Sister De Lourdes Walshe came to Thomastown as part of the Mercy Sisters mission in Thomastown in 1966 and taught in the Girls School until 2001. She was very involved in the life of the Parish. When the Mercy Sisters mission was closed in 2015, she continued to live here until ill health necessitated her move to the Convent in Callan. She died at Brookhaven Nursing Home on Wednesday 31^st August. She is fondly remembered by many as a kind teacher, and many in the Church Choir appreciated her encouragement and support. No doubt she has now joined the choir of Heaven. May she be at peace.
