In the Church in Ireland, we talk about a crisis, and that crisis around numbers of priests and religious. However, the Church is bigger than that, so a bigger question is how do we harness the energies of all the baptised?
A term used by writers refers to ‘maintenance and mission’. Have we become so taken up with maintenance that we forget the mission that is ours? How can we be a leaven in society, in a different way than we’ve been since the foundation of the state? What ‘Good News’ have we for people in their twenties and thirties?
Coming through the last 18 months, lived through the pandemic, what have we learnt that we can bring with us into the future, or indeed, what do we need to discard?
